Project 0: I wasn’t meant to ship this yet

Sometimes plans fall apart... here's an example of when they fall together.

Project 0: Work Worth

This wasn’t supposed to be the first app. I figured December would be a slow start. Maybe I’d pick up a new language, slowly build something simple, and aim to launch at the end of the month. But somehow, 48 hours after opening Xcode, the app was live on the App Store.

Work Worth on the App Store →

It’s a simple idea: enter a price and it shows how many hours you’d have to work to afford it based on your hourly rate. You can also add a savings interest rate to see what you’d be giving up long term if you bought something instead of saving. Just a little grounding tool before spending.

It was meant to be a warm-up. I wanted to try Swift again and finally learn how the App Store pipeline worked. But everything just… worked. So instead of waiting, I shipped it.

What’s next?

Time to aim bigger. For December, I wanted to build something more ambitious. Something in the fitness space that could actually help people.

Introducing: PlainCoach

PlainCoach is a lightweight client management tool for personal trainers.

You can:

  • Add your clients.
  • Build check-in forms to collect progress, measurements, mood, photos, or anything else.
  • Set a schedule, and PlainCoach will automatically send out SMS check-in links.

Clients don’t need to download an app or remember a login. They get a simple text with a link. Tap, fill it out, done.

Starts at £12/month with no surprises.

Why this project?

I’ve always struggled to finish and release things. There are already so many coaching platforms out there, and my default mindset has been: “Why build this when something else already exists?”

But that’s the thinking I’m trying to escape from. The whole point of this challenge is to finish projects. Not to justify them to the market.

So why would someone choose PlainCoach?

Because it doesn’t try to change how PTs work. It supports what they’re already doing with fewer distractions, fewer clicks, and no extra apps for their clients.

When’s it launching? Hopefully sometime in December. We’ll see how it goes.
